  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for the custard)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. While the cake is baking, prepare the custard by whisking together sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks in a saucepan.
  9. Slowly whisk in the milk and cook over medium heat until thickened.

  12. Spread the custard between the layers of cake.
